iScopa

"Scopa" is one of the most famous Italian card games. If you don't know it just follow the quick-help here below or simply try it! You'll learn easily how to play. It's real fun!

HELP

Neapolitan Cards
This version of the game is based on traditional deck of neapoletan (also known as spanish) cards. A deck of neapolitan cards has 40 cards grouped in 4 groups of 10 cards each. Every group is identified by a "seed": "denari" (golden coins), "spade" (swords), "bastoni" (clubs) e "coppe" (cups). Every card has an amount of seeds equal to its value. They make exception the 8, 9 and 10, which are identified respectively by an infantryman, a knight (on a horse) and a king. However in every card there's the related seed. Note that the picture on the 1st card (the ace) is a complex sketch of the seed.

Playing Rules
The distributor (chosen arbitrarily at the beginning of the first game) gives 3 hidden cards to every single player and lays 4 open cards on the table. Every player, at his turn, takes one or more cards from the table of which the value is equal to his/her own card that he decides to play. When the playing cards are finished, 3 others will be distributed until there are no cards left in the deck.

If there is a card on the table of the same value as to the one being played, the player is obliged to take that card from the table. If he/she can't take any card by using the played card, he/she lays it down. When a player takes all the cards from the table he/she makes 'scopa'! Every 'scopa' accounts for 1 point. The last 'scopa' of the last turn doesn't count. The last player that has taken a card, gets all the cards left on the table.

Every player receives a point if: he/she has the biggest number of cards ('cards'), he/she has the biggest number of cards of denari ('denari', so the 'golden coins' are very important!), he/she has the 7 of denari ('sette-bello', this is the most important card!), he/she has, for every colour, cards with a value higher than the other player ('primiera'). In case of an equal result, none of the players receives the point. The first player that obtains 11 points, wins.

Values of the cards
(to utilize for the calculation of the "primiera"): 7 (21 points); 6 (18 points); ace (16 points); 5 (15 points); 4 (14 points); 3 (13 points); 2 (12 points); 8, 9 and 10 (10 points)... in other words collect as many as 6 and 7 possible!

Playing a card
There are three areas on the screen. The 'opponent' side (upper part, partially showing three covered cards, which are the cards controlled by your opponent, the iPhone or iPod), the 'table' (green areas in the middle, where all the played cards are), the 'player' side (your side, where you can see the cards in your hand). Each area is highlighted with a yellow neon light on the basis of the turn.
Tap on a card in your hand (be sure your area is highlighted). The card will be highlighted. Now choose how to play it either tapping on a card on the table or on an free area. If you try a move which is not allowed by the a.m. rules the cards will be highlighted in red.
You can always (during your turn) move the cards on the table around (just to improve visibility).

Points
The small numbers on the left side of the screen show the points as per last match.
At the end of a game, a block-notes like screen will show the collected points. In the order: 'cards', 'denari', 'primiera', 'sette bello', 'scopa'. Clicking on a row will show details on the upper part of the screen. Your points are the ones under the strange man face.
