Default Children of Bodom - Discography (All studio albums)

High Speed

Something Wild-------

Something Wild is the debut album by Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom. Released in November 1997

The album presents a darker and generally more experimental sound than the one present in their later albums, and contributed most to the infamous genre controversy of their classification as a death metal or black metal band at the time (in an interview with Fenriz, he was asked on what he felt about "so-called black metal bands like Cradle of Filth and Children of Bodom", to which Fenriz replied that he "hadn't heard CoB", and that he had "no comment" about Cradle of Filth); obviously a lot of black metal was present due to Alexi Laiho's stint in Impaled Nazarene and his self-professed "roots being in black metal". In a recent interview Laiho claims that the band at the time were inspired by "a lot of black and death metal bands" such as Dissection and Hypocrisy as well as classic rock/metal bands like the Scorpions, and that many other new bands in the scene were "trying to sound like Dimmu Borgir", leading to them wanting to do something "different". Laiho had gone on to consider the album their "most important", as it "put us on the map". It was held in high praise amongst metal fans in the Finnish underground metal scene at the time, topping charts all over the country, and sparking their international fame everywhere in the underground metal scene as "That metal band from Finland." The song-writing in this album is much more free-flowing and the use of keyboards and strong neo-classical metal influences are much more prevalent than in future releases such as Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper. The "Deluxe Edition" was released much later in 2002 and includes bonus material. The album also includes Children of Bodom's longest song to date "Touch Like Angel Of Death".

Track listing

1. "Deadnight Warrior" 3:22
2. "In The Shadows" 6:01
3. "Red Light In My Eyes (Part 1) 4:28
4. "Red Light In My Eyes (Part 2) 3:50
5. "Lake Bodom" 4:02
6. "The Nail" 6:18
7. "Touch Like Angel Of Death" - 7:47

Hatebreeder-------

Hatebreeder is the second studio album by Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom. In it, the band explores a classically influenced sound, as well as a dark, black metal atmosphere evidenced by fast, tremolo picked riffs, blast-beats, and Alexi using a more black metal-oriented vocal approach (Alexi had joked that Hatebreeder was "too black metal for heavy metal fans and too heavy metal for black metal fans"). It also carries some influence from power metal, in the fast riffs and complex soloing style. This record contains concert favorites such as "Silent Night, Bodom Night" and "Downfall". The keyboards show more presence on this album, with longer and more elaborate solos than in their previous work. The "Deluxe Edition" was released in 2005 with bonus material. Hatebreeder was also re-released in 2008.

This was the first album with guitars tuned to (D, G, C, F, A, D) after Something Wild, which was tuned in C# (C#, F#, B, E, G#, C#).

Follow The Reaper-------

Follow the Reaper is the third album by Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom.

The music continues the musical tradition of the previous album, Hatebreeder, only with a more straight-forward direction. Much of the black metal and symphonic metal elements were present (the keyboards, vocals, and production), as well as a stronger emphasis on power metal. Many songs on the album end as live setlist favorites, such as "Everytime I Die", "Hate Me!" and the title track.

Follow the Reaper was recorded and mixed at Peter Tgtgren's Abyss studio in Sweden, instead of the Finnish Astia-studio from Anssi Kippo, in which they had recorded all of their previous releases, including the demos from IneartheD. On this album Children of Bodom used the D standard tuning (D,G,C,F,A,D), which was also used on their previous studio album, Hatebreeder.

A deluxe edition featuring two bonus tracks was released in 2006.

Track listing

1. "Follow the Reaper" 3:47
2. "Bodom After Midnight" 3:43
3. "Children of Decadence" 5:34
4. "Everytime I Die" 4:03
5. "Mask of Sanity" 3:58
6. "Taste of My Scythe" 3:58
7. "Hate Me!" 4:44
8. "Northern Comfort" 3:48

Hate Crew Deathroll-------

Hate Crew Deathroll is the fourth album by Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom, released in 2003 under the Century Media label. The album is the final to feature guitarist Alexander Kuoppala. It was successful both in Europe and the USA, after the appearance of the "Needled 24/7" music video on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. "Needled 24/7" also featured on the heavy metal documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey.

This showed the band's sound becoming more streamlined and a bit simpler, more power metal and classic metal oriented than on previous albums. The keyboards were a bit more toned down as the guitars took hold as the more predominant instrument.

The tracks "Sixpounder" and "Angels Don't Kill" are played in drop C (CGCFAD) tuning, which has the 6th (C) string tuned a step lower than the band's usual step-down tuning.

The song "Hate Crew Deathroll" is only 3:33, but the track lasts 6:38 altogether. It sounds like it's just silence after the song ends, but if the volume is turned up high, you can hear the band members fooling around in the studio.

The band shot a video for "Needled 24/7", but it ended up being very expensive and did not turn out how the way they wanted it to. To make up for it, they shot the video for "Sixpounder". This video has an edited version, in which the blood looks less realistic, and the license plate at the beginning just says "COB 6 6". At the end of Needled 24/7 there is a quote: Death? What do yall know about death? taken from the movie Platoon. The lyrics of Sixpounder are about sixpounder cannons.

"You're Better Off Dead" was the only single from the CD. The single also contained a cover of the Ramones' "Somebody Put Something in my Drink". The album topped the Finnish singles chart and spent sixteen weeks on the chart .[1]

"Bodom Beach Terror" includes a quote heard in the movie American Psycho. My pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone, in fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. The quote can be heard at the end of the song. The quote continues into the beginning of the next track, "Angels Don't Kill", with "I want no one to escape."

The booklet contains the lyrics for "Needled 24/7", "Chokehold ( 'n' Loaded)", "You're Better Off Dead" and "Hate Crew Deathroll".

Track listing

1. "Needled 24/7" 4:08
2. "Sixpounder" 3:24
3. "Chokehold ( 'n' Loaded)" 4:12
4. "Bodom Beach Terror" 4:35
5. "Angels Don't Kill" 5:13
6. "Triple Corpse Hammerblow" 4:06
7. "You're Better Off Dead!" 4:11
8. "Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood" 3:24
9. "Hate Crew Deathroll" 3:38

Are You Dead Yet? is the fifth album by Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom. The album was released in Finland on September 14, 2005 and internationally on September 19, 2005 under the Century Media label. It is the first Children of Bodom album to feature guitarist Roope Latvala (Stone, Sinergy, ex-Waltari), due to the departure of Alexander Kuoppala. In this album, the band has chosen the dropped C tuning (usually tuned in D tuning), which differs from the "whole step down" tuning previously employed. The power metal influences previously prominent are also greatly reduced in this album.

 A thank you would be nice....
If you liked the stuff I uploaded, buy the albums, or go watch these guys live. I don't upload this sorta stuff for rapidpoints, but to spread beautiful music. Which is why I expect all those who download this sort of stuff to support the artists who make it. By that I mean buying the albums/buying concert tickets. If you illegally sell this stuff, may God's curses be on your head.

THE GODS MADE HEAVY METAL!!!
